The full form of SSC is the Staff selection commission of India. The staff selection commission is an Indian organization that is made to conduct recruitments and job employee examination for various posts under different ministries and departments.

The staff selection commission was initially named the Subordinate Service Commission. This current Staff selection commission organization works under the Department of Personnel and Training.

It has staff that include chairman, two members and a secretary who is the controller of examination also.

SSC history

The government of India organised a commission named subordinate service commission in 1975. The Subordinate service commission was formed to suggest reforms.

The subordinate service commission was renamed in September 1977 as the Staff Selection Commission.

According to the suggestions made by the staff selection commission, all the functions were redefined by the Government of India by the Ministry of Personnel, public grievances. These new functions along with the new constitution for the staff selection commission got effected from 1st June 1990.

Since its establishment in 1975, the staff selection commission has been involved actively to select staff for different group B and Group C posts for the Indian administration bodies.

The staff selection commission conducts many exams in a year for various different types of posts and job roles.

SSC MTS

SSC MTS examination is conducted every year by the staff selection commission to select candidates for the posts of Multi-Tasking Staff. These multi-tasking staffs are recruited for different posts in departments and offices under the Government of India.

SSC CHSL

SSC CHSL is one of the most important examinations conducted by the Staff selection commission as many senior secondaries passed students wait for this recruitment. SSC CHSL is organized for the recruitment of different posts under the departments of the Government of India. SSC CHSL examinations are conducted for posts such as-

  • Data entry operator
  • Lower-division clerk
  • Junior secretariat assistant
  • Data entry operator Grade A
  • Postal assistant
  • Sorting Assistant

 SSC CGL

SSC CGL is one of the most followed examinations by SSC where CGL stands for combined graduate level examination. The staff selection commission organizes a combined graduate level examination every year to recruit staff for different posts in various departments, organizations and ministries that come under the Government of India.

The candidates have to qualify for SSC CGL eligibility criteria to get a job for these posts. According to the SSC CGL structure as the name suggests the minimum educational qualification is to have a graduation degree from any recognized university. After the successful completion of the SSC CGL Examination, the candidate will be working for various group B and Group C posts.

 SSC GD

SSC Conducts an SSC GD examination to recruit for the post of constable for general duty in the Border Security Force or BSF. Here GD stands for General Duty so SSC conducts this examination every year to recruit General duty officers for BSF, SSF, CISFNIA, ITBP, SSB, and CRPF etc.

SSC Stenographer

SSC conducts examination for the post of Stenographer Grade C (non-gazetted post) and Grade D posts in different departments, organization and ministries of the Government of India. SSC conducts this Stenographer examination every year.

SSC CPO

SSC CPO examination is organized for the central police organization to recruit Sub-inspector in Central armed forces (CAPFs), Sub-inspector in Delhi Police and Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) in CISF.

SSC JE

SSC recruit Junior Engineers for various departments of the Government of India through this SSC JE Staff selection commission junior engineer examination every year. SSC recruits Civil, Mechanical, quantity surveying and contracts based and Electrical engineers etc.
